On September 13, the Guizhou Provincial Qualifier of the 2026 “Moutai Prince Cup” National College Liquor Tasting Competition concluded successfully in Renhuai. Twenty-one contestants from Moutai Institute swept the first, second and third prizes and advanced to the national finals.

The competition was hosted by the Guizhou Brewing Industry Association, organized by Kweichow Moutai Group, supported by Kweichow Moutai Sauce-Flavor Liquor Marketing Co., Ltd., and co-organized by Moutai Institute. It consisted of two assessment sessions: theory, accounting for 20% of the total score, and practical tasting, accounting for 80%. The practical tasting session comprised 11 rounds, assessing aroma-type identification and quality differences among liquors of different aroma types.

The event drew 120 students from universities across Guizhou Province, including Guizhou University, Guizhou Institute of Technology, Guizhou Light Industry Polytechnic University and Moutai Institute. In the end, 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, 5 third prizes, 12 excellence awards and 10 merit awards were presented. Thirty award winners will represent Guizhou at the national finals, 21 of whom are from Moutai Institute. They swept the first, second and third prizes of the competition and accounted for the top 16 places in the ranking.
These outstanding results vividly reflect how Moutai Institute, grounded in the needs of the high-quality development of the liquor-making industry, stays committed to running the Institute with distinctive features, continuously deepens industry-education integration and school-enterprise collaborative education, and advances the education model of “promoting learning, training and teaching through competition.” We look forward to seeing the students competing in the national finals continue to strive for excellence and shine, injecting vibrant youthful energy into the high-quality development of the liquor industry.
