Moutai Institute is a non-profit full-time application-oriented undergraduate university. It was founded by China Kweichow Moutai Distillery (Group) Co., Ltd. and approved by the Ministry of Education on May 23, 2017. The Institute enrolled its first batch of undergraduate students in 2017 and now has 4,715 students.
Moutai Institute is located in the Southern New Town of Renhuai, Guizhou Province, known as the "Liquor Capital of China". It covers an area of 1,076.2 mu (approximately 71.75 hectares) with a building area of 254,000 m2. It is equipped with advanced teaching and research facilities. There is a library with abundant collections, and a highly intelligent and digitalized campus with comfortable and convenient learning and living environments.
Centering on the liquor brewing industry chain, Moutai Institute has developed its academic disciplines, currently offering 15 undergraduate majors, including: Baijiu Brewing Engineering, Brewing Engineering, Viticulture and Enology, Food Quality and Safety, Food Science and Engineering, Resource Recycling Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Automation, Packaging Engineering, Marketing, E-Commerce, Logistics Management, Hotel Management, Tourism Management, and Seed Science and Engineering. Among them, the major of Baijiu Brewing Engineering is a unique discipline beyond the Ministry of Education's catalog; Light Industry Technology and Engineering, and Sociology have been approved as provincial key supported disciplines; Brewing Engineering and Resource Recycling Science and Engineering have been approved and selected as the provincial first-class development majors.
The Institute leverages its talent advantages to conduct research in fields such as liquor brewing, liquor culture, liquor marketing, resource recycling and other fields. It has established 5 provincial and ministerial-level disciplines and scientific research platforms. It has also obtained 35 national-level scientific research projects, 70 provincial and ministerial-level projects, and 317 municipal and departmental-level projects.
The Institute has a highly qualified faculty team consisting of both full-time and part-time teachers. There are 517 faculty members in total, among whom 131 hold doctoral degrees. The institute also employs liquor brewing masters, brewers, as well as provincial and national -level liquor tasters as practical training teachers. In addition, it invites Academicians, Changjiang Scholars and other high-level experts in related disciplines and industries, as well as industry masters, to serve as distinguished professors or visiting professors.
